Rotary members worked—and played—with Evergreen Elementary students during its 2019 summer enrichment program.

The Rotary Club of Gig Harbor North and Rotary District 5020 funded the two-week program. Nearly half of the members of our club volunteered as helpers. About 30 students attended daily.

This was the first full-day summer enrichment program at Evergreen. Partners in the free program included: Communities in Schools Peninsula, FoodBackpacks4Kids and Children’s Home Society.

Tricia Endsley is the Communities in Schools Peninsula coordinator at Evergreen Elementary and coordinator for its summer program. On August 6 she spoke to our club about the program, and following her presentation, Rotary North presented checks to Laurel Shultz (Communities in Schools Peninsula) and Gina Cabiddu (Children’s Home Society) for their support of the Summer Enrichment Program.
